Our Story

Afton Villa Gardens, located in St. Francisville, Louisiana, is a historic and enchanting garden that has gained recognition for its captivating beauty and rich history. Originally established in the mid-19th century, the gardens were part of Afton Villa, a grand estate that fell victim to a devastating fire in 1963, leaving only the gardens intact. Today the gardens serve as a memorial to lost Southern history. Afton Villa Gardens was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Today, these gardens stand as a testament to timeless elegance and meticulous care, providing an idyllic backdrop for your most cherished moments.

Our Gardens

Afton Villa Gardens features a stunning array of landscapes, each offering its own unique charm. From the graceful curves of our manicured lawns, sprawling terraces, and vibrant splendor of our flower beds, every corner of our gardens is designed to enchant and inspire. Draped in Spanish moss, surrounded by verdant green lawns and finely manicured topiary, the estate contains over 20 acres of formal gardens and pleasure grounds, including the famous ruins gardens, a formal parterre garden, the music room, a daffodil valley, and a historic family cemetery.
