  Just a quick visit, off season very hot.The grounds are very well maintained. We will definitely be back in the spring. Herman the employee working at the time was very friendly,knowledgeable and helpful about the garden.

  Afton Villa Gardens is a really beautiful place, but I wish the accessibility information was more clearly communicated before visiting.

I visited with my 4-month-old daughter in a stroller and found the grounds extremely difficult to navigate. Nearly every path consisted of loose pea gravel, and all areas required traversing steep staircases. There were multiple occasions where I was unable to traverse safely.

The gardens themselves are lovely and clearly well-maintained, but I would not consider them stroller-friendly. Families with young children, individuals with mobility limitations, and anyone using a wheelchair should contact the gardens in advance to better understand the terrain before visiting.

If you’re able to walk uneven surfaces and stairs, you’ll likely enjoy the experience. I simply wish the website provided more detailed information about the accessibility challenges so visitors can plan accordingly.

  I enjoyed my visit here. It is a very nice garden and incorporating part of it into the old ruins was unique.
I recommend downloading their app and audio guide to learn more about the property as you stroll through. It did take quite a while to download with the limited cell service I had.
The downside here is the cost. It was $12 per person and I felt I saw it all in about 30-40 minutes. Though I’m sure it takes a lot of time and money to keep the garden in prestige condition.

  Very pretty gardens. Walk ways can be tough because of loose gravel.
